Beverley lives and teaches in Johannesburg. She previously taught at Dinwiddie High, Yeshiva College, and Northview High. For the past seven years she has taught at the H Moross Adolescent School - an LSEN school (a school for Learners with Special Educational Needs) based at Tara psychiatric Hospital in Sandton, where she serves the hospital community - often learners between Grades 4 - 12 that are having problems [psychiatric (including anorexia and bulimia) and emotional] as well as day learners. The learners who are in hospital for treatment still have to keep abreast of their home-school work. The learners will have missed out on a lot of school work and so the teachers remediate and then fast track and then, once that is done, the children are taught individually according to the requirements of the home schools. When they are better they return to their home schools. It is quite a challenging job and sometimes sad to spend only a few weeks with the learners before they leave. There is not the continuity one would get in most other schools. There are only four teachers in the school and they depend on volunteers who come in and teach one morning a week. Beve has three children - Danielle (24) is a professional make-up artist and is studying Marine Biology; Talya (21) is studying towards a BA Drama degree at Wits and looking at making Aliyah to Israel; and Alon (14) is currently in Grade 8 at Yeshiva College. All three still live at home. Beve got divorced from their dad (Barry Korb) about 9 years ago. He is still very involved with the children and they all often land up celebrating the Yom Toveim together.
Beve and her husband, Alan Ritz (an ex Benoni boy) live in Viewcrest / Glenhazel with the children who have all attended Yeshiva College, and Alon is still there.
Beve and Alan are advanced divers and the children are all 1 star divers. They regularly take breaks to go diving - more often than not to Sodwana or Aliwal and also to Mozambique.
